Every day across Massachusetts, car accidents leave people with painful injuries, mounting medical bills, and uncertainty about what’s next. If you or a loved one has been hurt in a crash caused by someone else’s negligence, you don’t have to face the aftermath alone.
Focused on Recovering Every Dollar You Deserve
At Horrigan & Norman Law, we fight to make sure you’re fully compensated—and not pushed around by the insurance companies.

- 100+ cases tried to verdict
- Former insurance defense lawyer—we know how they think

Attorney Mark S. Horrigan brings a deep understanding of how insurers operate, including the tactics they use to deny or devalue claims. He spent more than a decade defending major insurance companies—and now he uses that knowledge to help accident victims like you.
Attorney Horrigan’s knowledge covers all issues in a car accident case, including case considerations:
- All types of driver negligence, from speeding and other traffic violations to drunk driving and texting behind the wheel
- Accidents involving semi trucks and other large commercial vehicles, which often have devastating consequences and demand proactive, aggressive representation
- On-the-job traffic accidents that may justify both a workers’ compensation claim and a separate claim against the driver who caused the crash
- Car accidents caused by uninsured and underinsured drivers
- Car accidents involving rideshares

What Compensation Can You Recover?
Depending on your injuries and situation, you may be entitled to compensation for:
- Medical expenses beyond PIP coverage
- Pain and suffering
- Lost income or reduced earning capacity
- Property damage
Key Factors in Massachusetts Car Accident Cases
No-Fault (PIP) Insurance Coverage
Massachusetts drivers are covered by Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which includes:
- Up to $2,000 in medical bills (if you have private health insurance)
- Up to $8,000 in coverage (if you don’t)
- Lost wages up to $6,000
- Total cap of $8,000 between medical + wage loss (if no private insurance)
Act quickly — PIP claims must be submitted as soon as practicable after the accident.
When Can You Sue for Pain and Suffering?
To pursue pain and suffering, you must have:
- At least $2,000 in medical expenses, or
- A fracture, disfigurement, or other serious injury
Do You Have Enough Insurance Coverage?
Massachusetts requires:
- $20,000 per person / $40,000 per accident minimum liability coverage
- Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (Coverage U) may apply if the other driver is underinsured
Example:
You suffer $100,000 in damages. The at-fault driver has only $20,000 in coverage. If your policy includes $100,000 in Coverage U, you may be eligible for the remaining $80,000.
What’s the Deadline to File?
You generally have 3 years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury claim in Massachusetts. (Longer if a minor is injured.)
